Nebraska Library Association Elections

    Voting is now open through August 30, 2019.  All NLA members may vote for the NLA Board Level positions. 

    Only members of the respective round tables and sections may vote on the offices for those round tables and sections.

    To cast your vote, log in to the Member Area and click on "Surveys" from the menu on the left hand side to access all ballots for which you are eligible to vote.

    NLA is now seeking nominations for several elected positions. At the NLA Board level, we are seeking candidates for:

    • Vice-President/President-Elect: This is a 3-year commitment (President-Elect, President, Past President) with an estimated average workload of 4-6 hours per month, especially during conference planning season. For the 2019-20 year, the position’s responsibilities will be:

        • Attend NLA Board meetings and events, filling the role of President when the current President is unavailable
        • Chair the Professional Development Committee, serving as Program Chair on the 2020 NLA Conference Committee
        • Serve on the NLA Executive Committee
        • Attend the Chapter Leaders Forum at either the 2020 ALA Midwinter or the 2020 ALA Annual conference

     

    • Treasurer: This is a 2-year commitment with an estimated average workload of 3-5 hours per month, especially in the Fall. For the 2019-20 year, the position’s responsibilities will be:

      • Develop the 2019-20 annual budget
      • Help with the filing of income taxes by the IRS’s extended deadline
      • Ensure that financial records and books are maintained according to all applicable laws, professional standards, and NLA policies
      • Serve on the NLA Executive Committee


    There are also several offices open in our Sections and Round Tables (“Groups”). All Groups are seeking candidates for
    Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, a 3-year commitment that includes service on the Professional Development Committee for 2019-20. This committee has an estimated average workload of 2-4 hours a month, especially during conference season, in addition to any specific responsibilities within Groups.

    Eligibility

    Any active member of NLA is eligible to run for Vice-President/President-Elect or Treasurer. Any active member of both NLA and a Group may run for office within that Group. Please note that membership must be active on May 31, 2019 to be eligible to run.

    Nominations:

    Please submit nomination information to NLA Executive Director, Ginger Jelinek at [email protected] no later than Friday, August 16, 2019.

    Here is what to include in your nomination:

    • Name and contact information for candidate
    • Picture of candidate
    • Brief paragraph about candidate - should include things like why he/she is interested in holding specific office for which they are applying, current place of work, etc

     

    Timeline

    • July 17-August 16: Nominations accepted and posted on the web site
    • August 19-August 30: Voting period and results announced
