Gumdrop Books NLA Conference Scholarship

Purpose
To promote the importance of professional growth for librarians across the state, the Gumdrop Books NLA Conference Scholarship is designed to assist a Nebraska librarian in attending the annual conference by covering the registration cost and helping to defray hotel and/or transportation expenses. Applicants must meet the Nebraska Library Association eligibility criteria below and submit a completed application on or before the deadline.
Additional information
One award will be presented annually. Scholarship applicants must deserve the award. Scholarships will not be awarded automatically if only one person applies. The scholarship will be paid by NLA directly to the library of the person receiving the scholarship.
2026 Timeline for the October NLA Conference:
- Applications open: August 1
- Applications deadline: August 30
- Recipients notified: by September 15
- Recipients announced: September 20
Eligibility criteria
- Must be (a) a resident of Nebraska or an employee of a Nebraska library for at least one year, AND (b) a member of NLA at the time of application.
- Previous recipients of the Gumdrop Books Scholarship are not eligible to reapply for two years.
Required application materials
- Write an essay of no more than 500 words explaining how attending the conference will benefit either you and your library.
- As a recipient of the scholarship, you agree to write an article for the NLA newsletter sharing what you learned by attending the conference.
