Attend National Library Legislative Day!
    Feb. 4, 2020

The American Library Association’s 45th National Library Legislative Day is a two-day educational event designed to provide attendees the opportunity to learn from policy experts and raise awareness among federal legislators about how and why libraries are vital to communities across America.

The Nebraska Library Commission and the Nebraska Library Association would like to offer the opportunity to attend this important event to one NLA member.  The interested member should have a vested long-term interest in the Nebraska Library Association and a desire to advocate for the NLA.

The event will take place in Washington D.C. on May 4 and May 5, 2020.  On day one, library professionals, information experts and library supporters across our nation will gather for a full day of training at historic Georgetown University.  You will:

    • Learn about the most pressing legislative priorities for libraries
    • Prepare to make the most of your meetings on Capitol Hill
    • Exchange tips and best practices with other library advocates

You will put your training and skills to work on Capitol Hill on day two as you meet with Nebraska’s elected officials throughout the day.

If you’re interested in attending, please email NLA Executive Director Ginger Jelinek at [email protected] by February 14, 2020.  Please click here for more information about the National Library Legislative Day.

It is important to note, funds may be available through the Nebraska Library Commission and the Nebraska Library Association to help with expenses.  The interested attendees should however understand that it is not guaranteed that their expenses will be entirely covered.
