ALCTS preconference explores networking as a tool for disaster response and recovery
    Apr. 3, 2019

Join the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) on Friday, June 21 at 8 am for the all-day preconference Better Networking for Disasters: Improving Participation and Coordination for Disaster Response and Recovery of Cultural Heritage. This preconference will focus on improving coordination, networking and engagement of librarians in regional and national disaster response and recovery. Using last year’s hurricane season in Puerto Rico as a case study, this session will bring together individuals and organizations involved in disaster response and recovery of cultural heritage. This mix of formal presentations, moderated panels and a breakout session for the audience is designed to inspire collaborations that extend beyond the current modes of working.

This preconference will feature speakers visiting from Puerto Rico with first-hand experience in disaster response in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Other speakers will include experienced preservation librarians as well as representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Work (FAIC).

For more information on this preconference, including the full list of speakers, the schedule or how to register, visit the ALCTS Annual Conferece page.

Please note you can register for just this preconference even if you aren’t attending Annual.
