The schedule of the day was:
8:30 to 9:20 am Morning Coffee at the Cornhusker, Lancaster Rooms 4, 5, & 6
Coffee and muffins. Time to greet volunteer recipients, senators, librarians, trustees. Invite your senator, trustees, and city officials, too!
9:30 to 10:20 am Briefing at the Cornhusker, Lancaster Rooms 4, 5, & 6
Former Speaker of the House, candidate for Governor, Mike Flood will speak. State Librarian Rod Wagner and our NLA Lobbyist Ken Winston will provide updates on current issues. Will the Nebraska Library Commission’s request to put more eBooks in our public libraries, to enhance our regional library systems , and to extend eResources to public and private schools win the support of the Unicameral in 2013?
10:30 to 11:45 am Visit your Senators office. Escort them to lunch.
Remind them to have their picture taken at the Cornhusker between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm that day. They will receive a copy of the poster in February. Volunteers will be recognized on the floor of the Unicameral at a time to be announced.
12:00 Noon to 1:00pm Lunch and Volunteer Recognition at the Cornhusker, Lancaster Rooms 4, 5, & 6
Invite your senator to lunch. Please offer to pay for your senator’s lunch AND escort them to lunch. If your senator cannot attend, please invite his/her legislative aides who are important people in the legislative process. Be sure you get to know them, too! Volunteers will be recognized by their state senators. Lyn Ziegenbein has been invited to speak.
