ITART – Information Technology and Access Round Table
Information Technology and Access Round Table (ITART)
Nebraska Library Association
2008-2009 Annual Report

ITART was very active in 2008-2009.  There were 48 current members in October 2009.  Officers for the year were:  Jan Boyer, Chair; Michael Sauers, Vice Chair/Chair Elect; Linda Francois, Secretary/Treasurer and Linda Parker, Past Chair.  Linda Francois resigned her position in March and Linda Parker fulfilled the remainder of her term.

The goals for the year were to:

1. Increase communication and participation in ITART

The creation of the ITART website with new content nearly every day certainly increased communication and awareness of the organization.  Sponsoring of both a preconference and a gaming night in addition to conference programs at the Fall 2009 NLA/NEMA conference also was instrumental in working toward this goal.

Using Memberclicks, emails were send to ITART members several times during the year to provide information and encourage participation.

2. Begin to document the history of the Round Table.

Progress was made on this year with a compilation of past officers and organizing documents that could be found.

At the Fall 2008 NLA/NEMA conference in Lincoln ITART sponsored or co-sponsored 10 programs as well as hosted a booth.  It was decided to turn over the duties of the Treasurer to the NLA Treasurer and this was accomplished early in 2009.  Ask-A-Geek was officially discontinued due to lack of activity.

ITART provided funds ($709.91) to purchase prizes for participants in the Nebraska Learning 2.0.  The prizes were awarded in February 2009.

ITART chose not to sponsor a Spring 2009 meeting.

The Chair and Vice Chair/Chair Elect participated in the Nebraska Library Association strategic planning event in June 2009.

Linda Parker, Past Chair, recruited a full slate of officers for 2009-2010.  The candidates were:  Karen Dalziel (elected) and Amy Mather for Vice Chair/Chair Elect, and Becky Wymer (elected) and Mary Ellen Ducy for Secretary.

ITART actively participated in the NLA/NEMA Annual Conference in Omaha, October 28-30.   ITART and the Nebraska Library Association co-sponsored Library Camp II, a preconference on Wednesday, October 28, as well as Gaming Night on Thursday, October 29.  The Round Table sponsored four programs during the conference:

1. Accessibility and Usability:  What You Need to Know – Karin Dalziel, Digital Resources Designer, UNL

2. What the Text Are You Waiting For? Mobile Computing in the Library? – Linda Parker and Audrey DeFrank, UNO

3. New Media Revolution:  Finding Information Without Print Materials – Marcia Dority Baker and Richard Leiter, Schmid Law Library, UNL,

4. Harnessing Social Media:  Market Your Library 2.0 Style

ITART sponsored a booth, provided ITART ribbons, and participated in the Paraprofessional Section scavenger hunt.

During the 2009 Business meeting by-laws revisions were approved to change the office of Secretary/Treasurer to Secretary and to change the term of the Secretary from one year to two.  Other minor clarifications were also made.  Revised by-laws will be provided to NLA for incorporation in the NLA Handbook.

ITART will co-sponsor a Spring Meeting in 2010 with the Technical Services Round Table on E-Books.  The meeting will be held at Bellevue University on April 23rd.

Respectfully submitted,

Janice Boyer

2008-2009 Chair
